Life With Others

I sometimes wonder if God’s idea of the church isn’t just some kind of a dream. Like an oasis in the desert that’s somewhere out there. You look for it. Long for it. You keep searching for it. But you never ever find it.
I mean, the idea that we could do life with others, that’s a pretty big idea. How do we connect with others in a meaningful way when our own lives are fractured, stunted and dysfunctional? We struggle at the best of times to survive a week with the people we live with in our own house, how can we ever do life with others?
I have come to realize that as hard as that is for me to get my mind around this idea, it’s still at the heart of God’s vision for the kingdom. It’s a shared life with others. It’s a life that is giving and taking, loving and praying, lifting and carrying for others.
Somehow as much as I may struggle to grasp it it’s the beauty of what God has imagined—a group of people touched by his grace, pulled together in his love and given a vision for something bigger than themselves.
And it’s that vision, that hope, that continues to draw me forward. That God would give me friends, fellow sojourners, who would lift me up, carry, pray and walk along beside me—that is a beautiful thing.
And that’s what I love about the North Point Family! We are a community of friends, melded together in grace, broken, at times beaten, but always lifted up by others. We walk the path that God has called us to, and like the Apostle Paul said, God’s light shines through the broken pieces of our life together.
Friends, may we never give up on what God is calling us to be. May we continue to do life with others. And may we find ourselves, even today, reaching out to bless, hug, love, encourage someone else along the way.
